Starting with "Days Gone" this spring, a number of PlayStation games are coming to the PC.

Sony today unveiled its next-generation PlayStation VR headset, and as part of the announcement, Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan was interviewed by GQ.Speaking to GQ, Ryan said that PlayStation games on the PC, and had only positive things to say about the topic. Of course, Sony has traditionally never released PlayStation games on other platforms.

"Several things have changed," Ryan said. 'In early 2021, development studios and the games they make have never been in better shape. Especially since the second half of the PS4 cycle, our studios have made great, great games. There is an opportunity to bring those great games to a wider audience and recognize the economics of game development: as the quality of IP improves, the cost of game production goes up each cycle. Also, the ease of offering our games to those who do not have home consoles is also improving. So it is a fairly simple decision for us."

TL; DR: Making games is more expensive than ever. Sony likes to make money from games, and it's easy for them to offer games on the PC. A "full slate" of first-party titles is likely to be announced, and the first game is the open-world motorcycle game "Days Gone," which will be released "this spring."

Ryan specifically discussed the reception of "Horizon Zero Dawn," which was released last year.

"We evaluated it from two perspectives. First, in terms of the immediate success of the activity of publishing the game on the PC, people liked the game and bought it. We also evaluated it in terms of what the PlayStation community thought about it. There was not a huge outcry. So we will continue to take our mission steps in this direction."

Jim Ryan was lucky I was not there. After this, I would have been shirtless and in his face, "When is Bloodborne!" and the panicked PR people would have called security and tried to placate me with an email statement. All joking aside (and I'm not kidding), Sony's first-party studios have produced dozens of excellent exclusives for the various PlayStation platforms. I can't believe that games like the "Uncharted" series, the "God of War" reboot, and Insomniac's amazing "Spider-Man" are available on the PC. ......

Bloodborne first, though. Get Bloodborne on PC, please.
