Bethesda to Auction "Starfield" Design Date with Todd Howard

We don't know much about Starfield, the sci-fi RPG Bethesda is developing. It has been in development for years, but there is no release date in sight: all Bethesda is saying at this point is that it will include space travel and will be released before "The Elder Scrolls 6."

Despite the mystery, Bethesda Softworks is offering one fan the chance to design a character for the game. The job is part of a prize package Bethesda has put up for auction at the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic Evening of Wishes auction, along with a brand new Xbox Series X console, Doom, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, and The Evil Within, as well as 16 games from the Bethesda series.

"Everyone loves to create their own version of a game's protagonist, but few players can actually become the characters in the games. The winner of this package will work with Bethesda Game Studios' award-winning team, including Executive Producer Todd Howard, to create a character for the highly anticipated next game, Starfield.

It is unclear exactly how this work will be done, but it is likely conceptual rather than detailed low-level design. More intriguing than the mechanics of the work, though, is the possibility that the winner will be privy to actual information about "Starfield."

Or maybe we all do: honestly, that's a fair assumption.) If we assume that any details are bound to leak out once shared, why not make everything public before the winner gets to work?

The prize list states that Bethesda will schedule time to create the characters within three months of the February 28 auction. That means you still have a week to bid, but you'll have to dig deep if you want to win: the current bid is $4,200, going up in $200 increments.
