Gameplay of "Rainbow Six Parasite" Leaked

After a long silence, new information is beginning to emerge about Rainbow Six Parasite, the long-awaited Siege spinoff centered on alien-slaying co-op. Ubisoft seems to be keeping mum about the game until it is ready, but that hasn't stopped the leakers. Yesterday, a short gameplay clip of Parasite (the codename Ubi is using until they decide on a final title) appeared on the Siege subreddit.

The clip was posted on Reddit by user ThyroidMelanin, but the video itself comes from the leakers. The video can be seen below.

So much happened in just three seconds. First, Vigil (the player) is in a squad with Tachanka and Lion; we see that the three are in a place called the "workshop" and are on a mission with a 15-minute time limit. The players shoot an irritating bag of alien slime and make the black goo that surrounds it disappear. The same goo can be seen in the original "Parasite" trailer, so maybe touching that thing will infect humans with the alien parasite. Looking forward to it.

Turning to the UI, most of the on-screen controls are carried over from Siege: you can still ping, change fire modes, and use secondary gadgets (which here look like special grenades). The main difference is the flashlight option and the 6-key mystery option. Mission objectives, perhaps?

There is also space for operator gadgets on the right side of the screen. The symbol for Vigil's gadget in the clip matches the symbol for his ERC-7 jammer in "Siege". It does not appear to be an effective technique against zombies, so perhaps the operator's gadget will be adjusted for the PvE environment. At the very beginning of the clip, a notice "+20 Stealth" is visible, so perhaps Parasite Vigil uses a scanner to sneak past the enemy unnoticed.

The same Reddit user also posted the following screenshot of the same black goo engulfing an entire room. It looks like a player (a lion this time) is escorting an NPC to its destination, a mechanic that fans of Siege will recognize from the hostage mode.

Parasite sure has changed since its birth as Outbreak, an experimental co-op event in Rainbow Six Siege that lasted only a few weeks in 2018. Players enjoyed the three-mission campaign so much that Ubisoft quietly began developing a co-op-only Rainbow Six Parasite seems to share Left 4 Dead-style campaign co-op with Outbreak's alien zombies But it remains to be seen if Siege-centric features like reinforcements and level destruction will return.

Glad to see Parasite in action for the first time in almost two years. As a co-op FPS enthusiast and a big fan of Rainbow Six Siege, I feel that Parasite (or whatever it is when the dust settles) is laser-targeted to suit my interests. Hopefully, it won't be another two years before we can play it ourselves.
