In the early versions of Bugsnax, the creature had to be dismantled.

Ever heard of "Bugsnax?" That game with a catchy theme song and a welcoming island full of friendly people who just want to eat mutating bugs? The game vacillates between endearing and disturbing, sometimes leaning one way or the other, but as developer Young Horses recently revealed on Twitter, early versions of the game leaned heavily toward the disturbing.

because, as this clip shows, they had to tear off the bugnax before plating it and serving it to the inhabitants of Snacktooth Island. First, a fly-like greenfly had its wings ripped off, before a bell bell pepper's tongue was torn off, then a pinckle, which looks like a crab but has pickle legs and a bottle shell, had its limbs ripped off and its body discarded.

Another clip shows the development stage of what was to be an on-rails shooter where Bugsnax would throw traps at its prey from the back of a food truck. This too is quite different from the final product, but the eyes of the creature being dismembered are hard to get out of your head and concentrate on.
