Ghost Recon Breakpoint was a pretty big disappointment when it came out in 2019." A "boring and confusing open-world tactical shooter," we called it in our 40% review, and it "adds nothing of value to the Ghost Recon template. Ubisoft promised to fix it, but like many promises I've made over the years (lose weight, quit smoking, be more helpful on social media), it seemed like the kind of promise meant to be taken with a grain of salt.

But Ubisoft kept working on it, kept convincing people to give it another chance, and today announced on Twitter that it will continue until 2021.

"Since launch, our priority has been to respond to feedback from our players. We've added multiple updates to the Ghost experience, bringing Bullet Lure, Darkest Night, Golem Island Exploration, World Modifier, and more." We have made it possible to tweak the Ghost Recon breakpoints to fit your needs and desires."

"Over the next few months, we will continue to work hard to add more to the game and provide exciting content for everyone. We are designing the future of the game based on your feedback, and we have a few surprises in the works! We will be sharing more details soon about what will be happening in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint in 2021."

Interestingly, the promise to add more "Breakpoint" in 2021 comes just weeks after Ubisoft announced that "The Division 2," which was supposed to wrap up with Title Update 12 late last year, will also add new content later this year.

The obvious question is whether "Ghost Recon Breakpoint" has actually progressed that much since its launch, and a quick look at Reddit suggests that opinions on this point are mixed: most players agree that it's better than day one, but but whether it has improved enough to be "good" (or at least worth another look) is a bit more debatable. Fortunately, for those who are interested but not convinced, there is a free trial version available that offers six hours of gameplay.
