Your favorite 1440p monitor is on sale for less than $300 at Amazon

Looking to upgrade, the Gigabyte G27Q is an impressive gaming monitor that is on sale this week on Amazon for $290. This FreeSync display normally retails for $330, but Amazon has reduced the price to a low $290. The G270Q has a native resolution of 2560x1440, DisplayHDR 400, and a number of valuable features.

A resolution of 1440p at 165Hz (144Hz via HDMI) hits the sweet spot we recommend for gaming. It would be an excellent gaming monitor if you get the new AMD RX 6800 GPU or want to play Xbox Series X at 2K/60Hz or 1080p/120Hz The 27" IPS panel is the perfect size for gaming without taking up your entire desk. I don't like one of the specs much: the colors look washed out in most games that support DisplayHDR 400. This is not true HDR and requires a brighter (and more expensive) panel. I am a fan of the $290 price point, so I can forgive the G27Q's weak HDR.

A review of this display by Kizito praises the G27Q's vivid, smooth image, but chastises it for its mundane design: in 2021, the thick bezels are not flattering, and the G27Q's design is not as good as it could have been. There are also two convenient USB 3.0 ports and a built-in hardware monitor that displays fps, temperature, etc.

If you're on the fence about the Gigabyte G270Q or looking for something a little more glamorous, check out our favorite gaming monitors of 2021 and see if anything tickles your fancy.
