Rainbow Six Siege" to Fix Strange Recoil Bug Tomorrow

The next patch for Rainbow Six Siege targets a number of nasty bugs introduced at the start of the Crimson Heist season last week. Among them is a truly bizarre recoil bug that causes bullets to veer off course. Patch Y6S1.1 will be available tomorrow for PCs and (as soon as Microsoft and Sony give the green light) for consoles.

Ubisoft will release the full patch notes with tomorrow's update, but here are some highlights of what will be addressed:

If you haven't played "Siege" much lately (me), you may not notice the unintended recoil changes, but the gunfight It is certainly destructive enough to cause problems in a gunfight. Basically, vertical recoil is no longer randomly applied to any gun while shooting, causing the player to overcompensate for the recoil and pull the sights downward. This happens so quickly that it is difficult to discern what is even happening; Pengu, a professional Siege player, highlights the sight distortion in the video below.

If you blink, you miss it, but you can see the bullets impacting the wall and occasionally the shot is deflected downward. This bug is by no means game-breaking, but serious players and pros are especially upset.

A new exploit that allows players to instantly tilt in either direction has also been squashed in Y6S1.1. This new trick is not as widespread (unless you play against the sweatiest Plats and Diamonds that Siege has to offer), but it is definitely a bigger problem than the recoil bug. By milling and leaning at the same time, you can bypass the lean animation altogether and basically teleport left and right. I would be quite upset if someone magically appeared around the corner and shot me in the head.

Thankfully, there's not much need to be nervous about that assumption anymore. As a longtime "Siege" fan, I'm grateful that Ubisoft is finally fixing these problems in a matter of days rather than weeks or months. Now if only they could do something about the pesky chat bug that randomly locks you out of team voice chat, there's nothing to say.
