Serious Sam 4 supports official modding and Steam Workshop

Official support for "Serious Sam 4" launched today, and the Serious Editor, the same toolkit Croteam uses to build the game, is now available for free to Steam game owners. Not only that, but Steam Workshop has also been integrated, so there's no reason not to get your hands on community-created creations. [The first standout is 7Smoke Racing, which turns the game into a racer, with both competitive and time trial modes available. There is also a handy resource manager that lets you edit most of the base game without getting your hands dirty, and a mod that adds 16-player cooperative play. [A number of new playable characters have been added, including Nonna, Hellfire, Jones, Kenny, Mikhail, Quinn, and Rodriguez, and all of the Serious Sam 4 NPCs are playable. If any of them swear too much, don't worry, as they can now filter out profanity as well.

The rest are bug fixes and performance improvements. For all of that, see the Steam changelog. Tyler enjoys the game, which was released late last year, and writes that "knocking down thousands of aliens in Vatican City is worth doing at least once."

A nice overview of the editor's features, courtesy of World of Serious Engine, is embedded below.
