As you may or may not know, game demos are back. Last year, the indie scene of PlayStation-era graphic creepy games created a free anthology of 17 creepy weird games called the Haunted PS1 Demo Disc. Its creators return from the land of shaky textures and giant polygons with the sequel, Haunted PS1 Demo Disc 2021.

Like last year, it will not be a real physical disc, but a bundle of Windows executables accessed through a launcher with a UI reminiscent of the old days. Included this year will be Agony of a Dying MMO, "a narrative horror game set in the last few hours of a massively multiplayer online game before the servers shut down for good," a "Resident Evil/Silent Hill/Alone in the Dark" style fixed camera horror, The Lunar Effect, a puzzle-solving escape from a mansion, and tmOD, a "cursed love letter/remake based on a classic gmod and hl2 mod scene."

As explained in the FAQ, the skeletons that seem to be in charge of things are not very strict about definitions. Likewise, we do not demand a strict horror theme for our games. Instead, they can be atmospheric, have a slightly unnerving twist, or just be period-appropriate.

Scheduled to be released on March 24, Haunted PS1 Demo Disc 2021 has been delayed one day "for developer welfare."

The disc will contain playable demos of the following 25 titles.
