If you are planning to build a new PC, nothing is complete without a power supply unit. In relation to these, two models from EVGA are now on sale, including an 850W model with 80 Plus Bronze certification and a 600W model with 80 Plus Gold stamp.

Starting with the 850W model ($89.99 at Newegg, down from $119.99), the 750W model, based on a PC configured with a GeForce RTX 3090 (Nvidia's flagship GPU, based on a Core i9 10900K processor, is the company's recommended), it is sufficient to handle decked-out builds, and its 80 Plus Bronze certification indicates an efficiency level of 85% or better under typical loads (which means less energy is wasted in the form of heat).

This is also a semi-modular unit, meaning that while the main power supply and CPU connectors are fixed, the other cables are removable, making building a PC easier and neater. Also included is a free power-on self-tester. This consists of a 24-pin adapter and replaces the paper clip trick.

If you don't need that much wattage, EVGA's 600W model, certified 80 Plus Gold, is also on sale for $64.99 (down from $84.99.) The "Gold" designation boosts efficiency to 90% (or higher).

As for what level of graphics cards this model can run, Nvidia recommends a 650W PSU for the GeForce RTX 3070, but a high-quality 600W model should also work (use the online PSU calculator to get a (You can use the online PSU calculator to get a rough idea of the wattage required for your build). If you want to play it safe, you should look at up to a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (not that you can afford a GPU right now, but you will one day).

This is not a modular or semi-modular unit, so you may have to spend more time getting organized. However, many cases come with a PSU shroud included, so this is less of an issue.

As an option, EVGA offers a free PowerLink worth $9.99. Not a huge perk, but if you own a GeForce RTX/GTX 20 series graphics card, this adapter will help with cable management; add the PowerLink to your cart manually.

Both of these power supplies come with a 5-year warranty.
