In 2020, Nvidia and AMD sales will exceed $25 billion combined

According to a report by TrendForce (via Sweclockers), AMD and Nvidia are the fastest growing IC design companies like Qualcomm, Broadcom, and MediaTek.

According to the information, Nvidia has achieved a 50% increase in sales over last year, and AMD is not far behind with a 45% increase in sales.

These numbers are not surprising if demand is outpacing supply so violently. During the pandemic, everyone and their grandmother has been trying to get their hands on GPUs; powerful cards like Nvidia's RTX 3080 and AMD's RX 6800 XT are very popular, and the lack of GDDR6 has caused struggles at all stages of the supply chain.

Wafer production capacity for the top players is expected to be reserved until 2024, and then TSMC is auctioning off wafer production capacity in secret, which is a tumultuous development.

Intel is addressing the supply crisis by announcing two new fabs that will expand its Octorio campus in Arizona.

Whatever the current situation, AMD and Nvidia seem to be getting by just fine without their own fabs. So it remains to be seen if we will see AMD and Nvidia chips manufactured by Intel,

but unfortunately, as TrendForce notes, "the shortage of foundry capacity is expected to continue throughout this year."
