EA is working on a new PGA TOUR

Electronic Arts has announced the return of one of the sports franchises that made its name: the PGA TOUR. This new "next generation golf video game" is being developed by EA's Tiburon Studios. Tiburon Studios, most recently responsible for the "Madden" series and the "NBA Live" series, was also the lead studio for EA's previous generation of PGA games (the last, "Rory McIlroy's PGA Tour," was released in 2016).

The press release announcing the new full title, EA Sports PGA Tour, stated, "Golf fans can build a virtual career and experience the PGA Tour, including unforgettable events like The Players Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The sights, sounds and thrills of the PGA TOUR, including unforgettable events such as The Players Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs," it said. The game will also feature many of the world's most famous courses, allowing fans to play against and as some of the biggest names in professional golf.

The new deal with the PGA Tour is "long-term" and the game is being made with the company's in-house engine Frostbite. Cam Weber, EVP and GM of EA sports, said, "We couldn't be more excited to expand our sports portfolio with the release of a new golf title on next-generation hardware. Our team of passionate golf fans have painstakingly recreated world-class courses like Pebble Beach, and we can't wait to give fans the opportunity to play on the PGA Tour's most iconic courses and win the FedExCup."

This introduction links to the game's official website, which, as of this writing, only has information about the old game. There is also an official social media account, but no further information is yet available.
