Polish horror game developer Bloober Team has pulled out of acquisition talks with several potential buyers, local media outlet Bankier.pl reported (via VGC).

Bloober, developer of games such as "The Medium," "Blair Witch," and "Observer," was reportedly in negotiations with over a dozen companies worldwide. However, in a press release sent to Bankier, the studio claims that it has now backed out of negotiations, feeling that any acquisition would risk "losing a key strategic objective."

"At this stage," the press release continued, "it is incompatible with the culture of the organization and would significantly limit the potential growth in corporate value over the next few years, especially considering the projects that have been implemented and are planned.

Bloober Team is currently rumored to be working on "Observer 2," and according to extensive hints from the studio, it is supposed to be developing a new "Silent Hill" (which Andy K. wants to leave to Remedy). However, thanks to its recent success, Bloober claims to have enough extra cash to begin investing in new games from outside studios.

"Furthermore, with the surplus funds, the company has the potential to make investments aimed at increasing underlying value.

We rated The Medium quite highly, and it is clear that many others did as well, given that the game recouped its development costs in a matter of days. It will be interesting to see what new voices in the horror world will be economically raised by the success of this game.
