Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Opens Premier Matchmaking to All

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has opened Broken Fang Premier (a competitive matchmaking mode previously available only to those who purchased the Broken Fang Pass) to all players. A pick/ban phase was introduced at the start of the match, with teammates taking turns voting rounds while shouting "Don't Dust" or "I'll stop if you pick Overpass."

As a reminder, non-prime players will not be matched to the premier mode; when CS:GO went free-to-play, players who had paid for the game automatically got a 'Prime' account. Players who started with the F2P version, on the other hand, could either charge for Prime upgrades or wait until they reached level 21 to gain status (the idea being to put a paywall/timewall in front of throwaways and smurfs). In other words, most people can play premier mode unless they are just starting out.

"Operation Broken Fang" is scheduled to run through April 30, so you have about another month to complete the various missions and rack up the rewards. The premier mode is the icing on the cake when it comes to teaming up.

Full release notes for the patch are here Broken Fang's regular update pace continues. Not only are there serious quality-of-life improvements, but the developers are also leaning into community antics like the terrible sticker capsule this season.

This latest release is also accompanied by a modest community compliment: "The Zeus textures have been adjusted to read Zeus X-27. By the way, this counts as a Zeus skin." Zeus is a portable stun gun and one of the few elements in the game that does not have a skin. For this reason, fans are always asking for a Zeus skin, and there is even a dedicated Twitter account calling for it. This shows that Valve is listening, even if the response is humorous.
