Hooray! World of Warcraft's Next Big Update Comes to Beta Servers in Just Two Weeks

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands' 9.1 update will be released to the Public Test Realm "in about two weeks," a Blizzard forum post confirmed today. titled "Chains of Domination. This update will add new raids, mega dungeons, story quests, and a new subzone to explore called "Maw" (The Great Ocean), which is great news for WoW players who have grown tired of the Shadowlands.

Blizzard did not share any new details in their brief announcement post, but just knowing that Chains of Domination will be entering beta soon is great news.

A problem that seems to stem from the Coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the video game industry: the launch of "Shadowlands" has already been delayed by a month, and even when Blizzard announced "Chains of Domination" in February, the live stream reveal was detail It was scarce. Even though many players had already begun to grow tired of Shadowlands' launch content, it was clear that Chains of Domination was going to take quite some time before it was ready.

In February, I calculated the gap between WoW's new expansion and its first major patch and found that Shadowlands was going to make players wait the longest between release and the x.1 update. This is because, like me, many players quickly become bored with the endgame ground and are looking for something new.

"Chains of Domination" is expected to be a major update that will be well worth the wait. We still know very little about what the update will entail and how new zones like Korthia will revamp the endgame, but we should have some answers when the patch hits the PTR on April 14.

However, that does not mean that Chains of Domination will be released immediately; according to Wowhead, the last several major patches have all been beta tests for two to three months. In other words, Chains of Domination may be ready for full release in June or July, but the patch needs a lot more work, and it is very possible that it will not be released until later this summer. Either way, the wait will seem long.
