Developer of "The Sims 2" Says Simlish is "Dickish," to Explain Why There Are No 3Ps

Simlish, the dickish language of "The Sims" series, turns out to have no linguistic background at all, according to a developer who worked on "The Sims 2."

Jake Simpson, who was the lead engineer for the game's simulations and tools, shared details behind the development of "The Sims 2" in a lengthy tweet thread over the weekend. He wrote: "Note: I have no linguistic background in Simlish. 'No linguistic background in Simlish. There is no linguistic background in Simlish at all.

According to Simpson, the team was "constantly amazed by people who felt they could see patterns where there were none" and passed around links to sites they thought had cracked the Simlish code.

Interestingly, Simpson also claimed that he sometimes receives bug reports from non-English speaking players who cannot change their spoken language because they assume that the sims are speaking English rather than random gibberish.

There were many other interesting stories, including EA's attempt to eliminate bladder functionality because it was "pretty weird" for Sims to pee on their own. Series creator Will Wright initially caved, but after a New York Times investigation proved that his random bathroom data values were correct, he quickly faxed a copy to upper management and wrote "BATHROOM NEEDS STAY!"

Apparently, EA was not opposed to the idea of threesomes in the game either. Simpson concluded his tweet thread by saying that when he jokingly sent in a bug report about Sims not being able to initiate threesomes, the executive producer marked it "not fixed" with the comment "not enough animation time." Classic.

I highly recommend checking out the entire tweet thread to see all the great Simpsons anecdotes.
