Netflix's "The Witcher" Season 2 Ends, and Geralt is Overjoyed

Season 2 of The Witcher has been released. The news was posted on Instagram along with a photo of a fully armored Henry Cavill with his Witcher medal and a better wig than in season one. Geralt has never looked happier.

Like so many television shows over the past year or so, filming for the series was rocked by Covid-19. Cavill was also slightly injured during filming while banging his "axe-wielding" gauntlet in the 20-foot-high tree canopy. What a klutz.

Fortunately, despite the filming delays, there is plenty to look forward to. More wizards are on the way, including Geralt's tutor Vesemir and the up-and-coming young Lambert. From the montage below, it looks like the producers are more than happy with Cavill. There's even a John Woo-style slow-motion sideways rap. I hope that guy is ok.

Late last year, Netflix officially revealed the synopsis for Season 2. Since then, fans of the film have been waiting for the announcement of the cast of new characters familiar to fans of the show.

The plot synopsis is as follows: "Convinced that Jenefer's life was lost in the battle of Sodden, Geralt of Livia brings Princess Cirila to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Caer Morhen. While continental kings, elves, humans, and demons vie for supremacy outside the walls, he must protect the girl from something more dangerous.

It will be interesting to see how the show adapts Siri's time in Caer Morhen. The Witcher 3 begins with Geralt, Vesemir, and Siri training in a castle, but the show's creators have made it clear that the show is based on the novel, not CD Projekt RED's game. It will be good to see Siri's character develop, not just wander the woods for a few episodes.

Now all we need is a release date and we can reserve a day or so off to watch Mr. Cavill slay the monsters. Until then, we can enjoy the cover of Toss a Coin to Your Witcher.
