Outriders developer 'happy' to make major expansion

The just-released sci-fi cover-shooter RPG "Outriders" is doing quite well among fans, thorough and pervasive server issues aside, and probably has some of the most dedicated binge players wanting more. The developers at People Can Fly seem ready to give them more. [Bartek Kumita, creative director of People Can Fly, when asked in an interview with Forbes about future content for Outriders, said, "We have a lot more stories we want to tell and ideas we want to explore that didn't fit into the original game. We have many more stories to tell and many more ideas to explore that didn't fit into the original game. We have a lot more stories to tell and ideas to explore that didn't fit into the original game," Bartek Kmita, creative director of People Can Fly, told Forbes in an interview.

So even though "Outriders" is launching as a complete standalone experience rather than a live-service game that will be supported by regular content updates for years to come, future additional content doesn't seem to be out of the question. Instead, "Outriders" is likely to take the form of a classic ARPG like "Diablo 2."

Nor am I simply pulling it out of my ass. To borrow a quote from Bartek Kmita in the same interview: as a source of inspiration, it all started with Diablo. We wanted to refer to Diablo, not to other games in our genre."

"Outriders" failed to win over our own Chris Livingston, but the same people who played the demo to death are no doubt enjoying the launch version.
