Flight simulators do not have helicopters.

General
Flight simulators do not have helicopters.

As a game about flying planes, one might think that the most downloaded vehicle mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator would be airplanes. Not so; according to Asobo Studios, the game will not support helicopters until 2022 at the earliest.

There are no materials to build a helicopter. There is no flight model, no physics model. It shouldn't work.

But modders are determined, so they can add an Airbus H135 to Microsoft Flight Simulator, dress it up in fancy colors, and fly it around the world anyway. 85,000+ people have done so.

Other modders have created over 130 helicopters and other looks for the Helicopter Mod. In addition, 61 heliport mods have been added worldwide, ranging from hospital rooftops to a pack that adds 5 heliports in Los Angeles alone.

The Airbus H135 mod team is called the Hype Performance Group. While far from the quality they would like, there is no denying that this is a great attempt to make a helicopter flight model work within a flight simulator. Especially when it is in forward controlled flight, you would think it was a real helicopter. The current mod breaks down when it tries to do "helicopter" like stationary hovering or horizontal movement.

Don't get me wrong. It should be impossible, but it is quite impressive.

You can find the Airbus H135 at Flightsim.to.
