Enjoy silky smooth gameplay with this 1440p 27" LG Ultragear monitor for only $297.

In the past, buying a gaming monitor was a choice between speed (TN panels) and image quality (IPS panels). But not anymore. In that regard, LG's 27-inch UltraGear combines the best of both worlds, and right now it's on sale for $296.99 on Amazon.

This is $103 less than list price and about $85 less than the average sale price. The price is also quite reasonable. In keeping with the "best of both worlds" theme, this is a FreeSync Premium display certified by Nvidia as G-Sync compatible.

This means that the monitor's refresh rate can be synchronized with the graphics card with little reliance on the GPU (the only exception would be most on-board graphics) to maintain smooth, tear-free action.

It also has a resolution of 2560x1440, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, and a response time of 1 ms. While taking full advantage of fast refresh rates at native resolutions may be a hurdle for some GPUs, it is certainly possible to achieve triple-digit frame rates for less demanding games (such as many esports titles).

LG displays cover 99% of the sRGB color space, suggesting more accurate image reproduction (than cheaper TN screens); they also support HDR10, but at a modest 350 nits of brightness, they are not likely to be purchased specifically for HDR content (in the LCD world, 1,000 nits is required to properly reproduce HDR visuals).

Overall, this offers a robust feature set at an excellent price.
